New, 1 comment

This story is sponsored by Starbucks Coffee, presented by Quaker Oatmeal and Quizno's Deli and brought to you by the KFC Double Down (none of these companies have actually sponsored this post). Everyday it seems like we get on step closer to the near future world presented in the movie Idiocracy. Earlier today we mentioned that the NFL was now allowing teams to feature sponsors on their practice jersey's.  Now comes word that the Colorado - Colorado State game has a new title sponsor and a very, very long new name:

Starting in 2010, the Cinch Jeans Rocky Mountain Showdown is returning to Invesco Field at Mile High for 10 years. This year's matchup takes place on Sept. 4 with kickoff set for 12 noon MDT.

↵

Joining Cinch Jeans is Dr Pepper, which is returning as a presenting sponsor of the 2010 event, along with another hometown company, Ultimate Electronics, which will be the second presenting sponsor of the game.

Wait a second... Cinch Jeans? Did Dan Hawkins know about this ahead of time? Has he been hawking (hahaha) denim on the side to line his pockets a bit in case the Buffaloes fall flat once more?

Colorado football coach Dan Hawkins is starting to sound like a man with the same sense of urgency about the results his team produces on the field as the fans and media who have been so critical of him.

"It's time to cinch it up a little bit," he said this morning during a phone interview with the Camera.

Maybe the Hawk is smarter than we all think...
