I hope everyone enjoys their Independence Day Weekend festivities.

↵

Peaks
-The Rockies continue to climb up the NL West ladder after taking the second game of the series against the Giants 6-3 last night. The Rockies are now only four games behind San Diego for first place in the West and half a game behind the Dodgers for second place.

↵

-Rockies fans were able to see fireworks after the game.

↵

-Rockies' first-round pick OF Kyle Parker visited Denver yesterday, and the two sides should begin negotiations soon.

↵

-Avs defenseman Kyle Quincey received one of those nearly 600% raise increase that we all want one day.

↵

Valleys
-Todd Helton has played only once this week. Should we worry, as Troy Renck asks? He sat out yesterday and we may not see him on the field often until after the All-Star Break.

↵

-Tough to be a Giants fan. Yesterday's loss the team's seventh straight.

↵

On Tap For Today
-It's Ubaldo Day at 6:10 p.m. MT. Ubaldo Jimenez looks for his 15th win of the season when he and the Rockies encounter lefty Barry Zito. Because the Rockies play an afternoon game on Sunday, the annual Fourth of July Fireworks special takes place after tonight's game.

↵

-If the World Cup is your thing, Argentina faces Germany at 8:00 a.m. MT and Paraguay takes on Spain at 12:30 p.m MT.
