Road trips are hell. The Rockies have known this first-hand as they wrap up a road trip today.
↵Peaks
↵-Dan Haren left the NL West after the Diamondbacks traded him to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for lefty Joe Saunders, two prospects, and a player to be named later. Supposedly the PTBNL is Tyler Skaggs, the 40th overall pick in the 2009 draft. That's an underwhelming return for a legitimate ace . Thank you D'Backs for making this move.
↵Valleys
↵-Three and five. The former is how many consecutive games the Rockies have dropped to the Phillies, the latter how many dropped overall.
↵-From Purple Row's recap:
↵↵↵The Rockies stranded 12 runners on the day, going 1-for-9 with RISP, and that hit did not result in a run. Five of the 7 RISP outs by Rockies position players ended in a strikeout. You are not giving yourself a chance with performances like that.
↵
-Ian Stewart had the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth . . . and then struck out looking. It was an all too familiar image.
↵-The Colorado Rapids fell to the Seattle Sounders FC last night. The game's start was exciting as the teams combined to score three goals; however, that didn't last and the Rapids came out on the wrong end, losing 2-1.
↵On Tap For Today
↵-The Rockies finish their road trip with one final game against the Phillies today at 11:05 a.m. MT. Jason Hammel faces Joe Blanton. May the Rockies escape Philly with a win!
