Report: 'Melo Nears Extension With Nuggets

It appears that Carmelo Anthony will indeed sign a three-year contract extension with the Nuggets, after much uncertainty and worrying from fans; just yesterday, Andrew Feinstein of Denver Stiffs, SBN Nation’s Nuggets blog, expressed his skepticism that Anthony would agree to an extension. From Benjamin Hochman of the Denver Post:

Sources close to Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony have said that he expects to accept the team’s offer of a three-year, $65 million contract extension, and [Chauncey] Billups said Tuesday he shares that confidence.

An extension would keep the Nuggets’ franchise player in Denver through the 2014/15 NBA season and take him off next summer’s free-agent market.
