Peaks & Valleys - July 21 - Rockies Snag Marlins

New, 6 comments

After the letdown on Monday night, Tuesday proved to be much better as we saw the vintage performance of a pitcher and a huge night for a new three-hole hitter.

Peaks

-Jeff Francis, a Marlin King. Francis dominated the Marlins with seven shutout innings and seven strikeouts. We need more of this, Jeff.

↵

-Melvin Mora, Feared Slugger. A 3-for-5 night with five RBI by MelMo (as some at Purple Row have taken to call him) must mean a Rockies victory. You don't squander those opportunities when they show up.

-Hard to find any on a night when everything went right for the Rockies and no other team is playing. Maybe Carlos Gonzalez with his finger injury, but even that led to Melvin Mora's night (looking at that with hindsight, of course).

-UPDATE: As mentioned in the comments below, the Colorado Springs Gazette will no longer cover the Broncos. Frank Schwab, the Broncos beat writer, tweets us:

Well, it's with some sorrow that I announce this: The Gazette will no longer be covering the Broncos beat. And, obviously, I won't either.
