National League Wins 3-1 On Incredible Play By OF Marlon Byrd

Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann hit a double with the bases loaded in the 7th inning to drive in three runs, earning hiim the All-Star MVP and the National League its first victory since 1996.

Nationals closer Matt Capps was the winning pitcher, with Los Angeles Dodger Jonathan Broxton getting the save in a dramatic 9th inning, assisted by a dramatic defensive play by Chicago Cubs outfielder Marlon Byrd.

With one out in the bottom of the ninth and David Ortiz at first base, John Buck hit a soft liner to right field. Byrd chose to play it on a hop, spun and threw to second base ahead of Ortiz for the force out. Broxton got Ian Kinsler to pop out to center field for the final out of the game and the celebration began in Anaheim.

The National League now controls home field advantage for the 2010 World Series for the first time since the All-Star game was used as the determining factor.
