-NBA and NHL free agency start. It's Christmas in July, even if your team doesn't make a big splash. Watching a team sign another player to a silly contract might just make the day.

-Esmil Rogers is feeling a mile high as he returns to the majors for another stint. He can't be much worse than Franklin Morales, right?

- Despite the loss yesterday, the Rockies still took two of three from the Padres.

-In what is all too common an occurrence these days, Todd Helton struck out three times.
