Avalanche Trade For Left Winger

New, 6 comments

The Colorado Avalanche have traded a fourth round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft to the Phoenix Coyotes for left wing Dan Winnik, according to Denver Post's Adrian Dater.

Winnik becomes another option for the Avalanche to fill one of their greatest weakness. Last year, he scored only 19 points in 74 games, but the Colorado Avalanche showed promise in extracting the best possible effort from their young players players. Though there is no guarantee he will make the NHL club, Winnik, 25, will be given a chance to prove himself at training camp.

This is the second major trade between Phoenix and Colorado in 2010 following an exchange at the trade deadline with the Coyotes receiving Wojtek Wolski in exchange for Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter. The trade was successful for both teams, with Wolski and Mueller both averaging over a point a game for their new teams.
