Could The Next World Cup See Some Games In Denver?

New, 3 comments

With the USA officially eliminated from the 2010 World Cup, we now begin the long wait until we can see our beloved squad again take the pitch in four years, when the 2014 Cup begins in Brazil.

The location for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups have not yet been chosen, but the United States is preparing a bid for both, hoping to win either one of the two dates. There will be strong competition for the 2018 date with Russia, England and a combo bid from Spain and Portugal (similar to the Japan/South Korea split bid in 2002) all having reasonable chances to win.

If the bid were to be won by the United States, Denver would be one of the 18 cities selected to host some contests. The site will be chosen in December so head on over and sign the petition showing that you support the USA and Denver bids.

Hopefully we can see the world’s greatest tournament in Denver sooner rather than later, and of course having Bill Clinton helping to promote your bid can’t hurt…
