The Baltimore Sun writes that longtime Rockies’ third baseman Garrett Atkins, and current Orioles first baseman, will likely be released in a series of roster moves, proving to be a disappointing end to a once-promising career.
↵Atkins, one of the original members of “Generation R” campaign (along with Matt Holliday and brad Hawpe), has completely fallen off the baseball map the last two years and is unlikely to receive another major league offer. Whether or not he accepts a minor league assignment is also questionable.
↵No matter the reasons for his decline, be it poor training, a lack of conditioning or even just declining skills, Garrett was always one of the good guys in Denver and one of the few reasons to attend Coors Field during the Dark Years.
↵Thank you for everything you gave to Denver, Garrett, feel free to come back anytime.
↵You’ll just have to buy a ticket like everyone else.
