Peaks & Valleys - June 23

Two and a half seasons since the Rockies and Red Sox last met (the 2007 World Series), the Rockies won the first round in this return contest.

Peaks

↵

- 2-1. It was a tight game, but the Rockies held onto the game when things counted.

↵

- Todd Helton's RBI single in the fifth shows that there still may be life in his bat.

↵

- Despite five walks, Chacin kept the Rockies in the game. Getting Victor Martinez to hit into a bases-loaded ground out to end the third inning was huge.

↵

- Joe Beimel also found a huge out when he needed it most: David Ortiz hit into a bases-loaded ground out in the seventh.

↵

- Huston Street came of the disabled list.

↵

Valleys

↵

- Matt Belisle, who picked up the save, did allowed a run in the top of the ninth.

↵

- For Juan Rincon being designated for assignment a second time this season by the Rockies must be a disappointment.

↵

- Even though the Rockies won, the team still managed just two runs on nine hits.
