Jim Armstrong of the Denver Post reports that pitcher Jorge De La Rosa will begin a Triple A rehab assignment this week:
De La Rosa, who hasn’t thrown a pitch in the big leagues since late April, threw another round of living batting practice Saturday. The results were so encouraging, he’s scheduled to launch his Triple A rehab assignment on Wednesday in hopes of returning to the Rockies’ rotation on July 7.
With Ubaldo Jimenez and Jason Hammel holding the Rockies' rotation together at the moment, the Rockies need De La Rosa to come back strong as soon as he's ready to return to the majors. De La Rosa will be one of the keys to a successful second half of the season for the Rockies.
