Now that Tim Tebow has been granted a second start for the Denver Broncos, fantasy owners who relied on Kyle Orton will need to look for a new starter during the playoffs. Should fantasy owners pick up Tim Tebow if their current backup option is inadequate?
Tebow put up 22 fantasy points against the Raiders by rushing for a touchdown and throwing for a touchdown. His 138 passing yards didn't come anywhere close to matching Kyle Orton's average yards per game, but he was effective on the ground. His 78 yards, second-most by a Broncos quarterback, were bolstered by that 40-yard touchdown run.
Tebow will face the Houston Texans at Invesco Field at Mile High, which should play in his favor. The Texans have the worst pass defense in the league, allowing 275.1 yards per game. But Tebow is still a rookie quarterback who can make rookie mistakes.
Running back Knowshon Moreno is questionable with a rib injury, and Correll Buckhalter and Laurence Maroney have performed poorly or not even played in weeks. Lance Ball would likely receive more carries, as he did on Sunday, but he won't inspire teams to put eight men in the box to stop him. This could allow interim coach Eric Studesville to open up Tebow in the offense more.
Tebow will be a risky play and won't found highly in many fantasy QB rankings this week, but the potential is there.
