The latest USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll has the San Diego St. Aztecs up to No. 7, a move the latest AP Poll also made. It was a three-spot leap for the Aztecs after a 2-0 week on the court. The Aztecs were helped by Kansas St. losing to the Florida Gators, Baylor falling to Gonzaga and Tennessee dropping two games over the last week.
Villanova, Georgetown and Missouri all benefited from those top-10 teams losing by taking those spots in the rankings. Kansas St., previously No. 6, fell to No. 11. Tennessee experienced the most significant drop, moving from No. 7 to No. 18.
Duke received all 31 first-place votes to remain No. 1.
The BYU Cougars dropped five spots to No. 23 following their first loss of the season. UNLV, previously No. 22, dropped out of the rankings and finished with 32 points. New Mexico received 13 points in the voting.
Texas A&M entered the Coaches Poll at No. 24, while Central Florida was the last team out with 47 votes.
