On Sunday, head coach George Karl named Shelden Williams the starting power forward for the Nuggets. Via the Denver Post:
Coach George Karl made it clear on media day that he prefers having Al Harrington come off the bench. On Sunday, Karl said Shelden Williams will be the starter at power forward Wednesday night against Utah at the Pepsi Center.
The expected starting lineup on Wednesday should be Chauncey Billups at point guard, Arron Afflalo at shooting guard, Carmelo Anthony at small forward, Williams at power forward and Nene at center. Power forward Kenyon Martin is expected to return around the start of the new year and center Chris Andersen will be back in December.
Williams averaged 12.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game during the preseason, which are the best numbers at any point in his NBA career. But that's not worth much since this will be his first chance at real playing time. The Denver Nuggets are his fifth NBA team, playing previously with Atlanta, Sacramento, Minnesota and Boston.
