On Thursday, the Denver Nuggets exercised the third-year option on Ty Lawson's contract:
The Denver Nuggets have exercised the third-year option on point guard Ty Lawson for 2011-12, team Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri announced today.
This comes as no surprise as Chauncey Billups' future with the Denver Nuggets is up in the air. The Nuggets have yet to make a decision on their team option for Billups next season. He would make $14.2 million next season if the option is picked up.
Lawson will make around $1.65 million in 2011-12 with the option now exercised. In six preseason games, Lawson has averaged 13 points and 5.3 assists. As a rookie last season, he averaged 8.3 points and 3.1 assists over 65 games.
