College Football Rankings, Week 7: Air Force Ranked No. 23 In Both AP Poll And Coaches Poll

It was quite a weekend in college football as the no. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide lost to then AP no. 19 South Carolina Gamecocks. The now 5-1 Crimson Tide slipped to eighth in both polls, but the Air Force Falcons are now starting to ascend in both polls after a 49-27 victory over the Colorado State Rams on Saturday.

The 5-1 Falcons rose two spots to no. 23 in the AP Poll this week, having entered last week at no. 25. Losses by Michigan and Miami (Fl.) moved the Falcons up and allowed Oregon State and West Virginia to enter the Top 25.

The Falcons debuted in the USA Today Coaches Poll this week at no. 23 as well. Last week's no. 14 team, Miami (Fl.), dropped out of the poll after a loss to Florida State (no. 17), and last week's no. 25, Northwestern, lost to Purdue. Air Force and West Virginia were the only two new teams in the Coaches Poll this week.

Air Force travels to San Diego, Ca. this weekend to take on the 3-2 San Diego State Aztecs. After the Aztecs game, the Falcons face fourth-ranked TCU in Ft. Worth, Tx.
