Tim Tebow Has Throwing Mechanics Praised By Jets QB Coach

The Denver Broncos traded Tim Tebow to the New York Jets back in March, and John Elway and John Fox have gone out of their way to praise Tebow as a person and a teammate since the trade, but the praise emanating from New York goes the extra mile. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that less than two weeks after Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sporano claimed Tebow made "eye-opening" progess, quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh doubled down and claimed Tebow "has good mechanics." Here's some of what Cavanaugh told Mehta regarding Tebow:

"I think he can be very good. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw him over an extended period of time . . . not just watching him play on film. I think he's certainly got the arm strength. He has good mechanics. They're getting better every day."

"I think with Tim, he's more focused right now in the offseason on just working on the fundamentals of trying to be rhythmic in the pocket," Cavanaugh said. "So (he) can be using the mechanics that (he) wants to be using. We started to toy a little bit with some of the other things that will happen to you . . . And he's shown great progress. I'm real pleased with him."

The hitch in Tebow's delivery has been a issue ever since he joined the NFL, and he has been putting in work with QB guru and UCLA offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone over multiple offseasons, so it's unclear where the line between lip service and reality lies when it comes to improvements in Tebow's mechanics. The Jets' staff has every reason to pump up their offseason acquisition and put faith in Tebow as a quarterback, but maybe he really has turned the corner and altered his throwing mechanics. Everyone will find out soon enough.

Tim Tebow Trade: Broncos Reportedly Shopped Tebow During NFL Combine

As early as the 2012 NFL Combine, the Denver Broncos seemed to have committed to finding a new quarterback. According to The Florida Times-Union, the Broncos had begun "quietly shopping" QB Tim Tebow during the February NFL Combine -- weeks before agreeing to terms with free agent QB Peyton Manning.

Tebow started 11 games for the 2011 Broncos team, helping lead them to a short playoffs run. Then, on March 21, the team traded Tebow to the New York Jets, where he presumably becomes their new Wildcat quarterback.

Entering the NFL via the 2010 NFL Draft, Tebow has started 14 NFL games and played in 23 over the course of his two-year career. Despite his 75.1 career quarterback rating, Tebow has engineered 7 game-winning drives including 6 fourth-quarter comebacks.

Tim Tebow Trade: Deal Delayed By Procedural Issue, To Be Completed Saturday

After a ridiculous series of turns that resulted in quarterback Tim Tebow being traded from the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets, ESPN New York is reporting that a "procedural issue" will delay the completion of the trade until Saturday at the earliest.

While there are no longer any concerns about whether a deal will be completed, this is just the latest turn in what's been a shockingly confusing series of events regarding Tebow, the Broncos and the Jets over the past couple days. Before the deal was apparently completed on Wednesday, reports had the deal going on and off for hours as issues regarding Tebow's contract needed to be figured out.

For now, it appears that a press conference is scheduled for Monday in order to introduce Tebow. The team has already stated that it plans to use Tim Tebow as the back-up quarterback to Mark Sanchez while giving him opportunities in the Wildcat offensive scheme.

Tim Tebow Was More Of An Injury Risk Than Peyton Manning?

Apparently the Denver Broncos believed Tim Tebow's ability to stay healthy was a major factor in the team deciding to go after a new quarterback this offseason. And apparently that is a straight like to bringing in Peyton Manning. As Mike Klis of the Denver Post writes:

It was Tebow's rib and sternum injuries suffered during the Broncos' 45-10 playoff loss at New England in mid-January that convinced management to rethink its quarterback position, according to NFL sources. The result was the Broncos' pursuit of Manning [...]

Mind you, this is about the quarterback who has had multiple neck surgeries and missed the entire 2011 season. This sums up how we should take this report:

Tim Tebow Trade: John Elway Says Tebow 'Has A Bright Future In This League'

The Denver Broncos washed their hands of Tim Tebow and officially moved on with Peyton Manning after trading Tebow to the New York Jets on Wednesday, and in an effort to put the focus back on Broncos football, Executive President of Football Operations John Elway and head coach John Fox both issued statements regarding the transaction. Here is what Elway had to say, via Gary Caldwell of DenverBroncos.com:

"Our goal was to do the best thing for Tim and the Broncos, and I believe the opportunity that presented itself with the New York Jets accomplishes that objective," Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway said in a statement. "Tim made a lot of strides last year and has a very promising career ahead of him. If anyone is willing to put the work in to be great, it's Tim Tebow. I have a great deal of respect for Tim and the positive impact he makes both on the field and in the community. He has a bright future in this league, and I'm hopeful he will enjoy continued success with the Jets."

Head coach John Fox echoed that sentiment in his own statement:

"Tim Tebow brought an incredible spirit and spark to our team that helped us turn the season around," Head Coach John Fox said in a statement. "Along the way, he earned the trust of his teammates and coaches while inspiring our fans. His competitiveness, clutch performances and will to win played an instrumental role in our team earning a division title and advancing in the playoffs."

"A player and person like Tim don't come around very often," Fox said. "He is real and he walks the walk. I'm looking forward to watching him continue his career with the Jets, and I wish him the very best."

Tim Tebow Trade: Broncos Will Receive Cap Credits After Jets Payments

The Denver Broncos and the New York Jets successfully resolved the money issues stemming from the pay advances given to Tim Tebow and finished their trade on Tuesday night. But what exactly did the two sides agree on to make the deal work. Andrew Brandt has the breakdown on the repayments:

Jets payments to Broncos re Tebow are 1.5M this year, 1.03M next, paid weekly thru seasons.Broncos get Cap credit after payments.

What this means is that during the next two seasons, the Broncos will see their cap space increase each week, eventually relieving the team of $2.53 million they provided to Tebow ahead of time. This repayment process was included in Tebow's contract for a situation like this.

While the Broncos get money back, the Tim Tebow circus will now attack Mark Sanchez and force pressure on the quarterback situation there.

Tim Tebow Trade: Denver Agrees To Trade QB To New York, After All

After all the action during the afternoon and evening, the Denver Broncos will in fact be trading quarterback Tim Tebow to the New York Jets, as Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting. The deal completes another interesting part of Tebow's short career.

Denver and New York had agreed to a trade this morning before the Jets realized that Tebow's contract required them to pay the Broncos roughly $5 million, which they apparently weren't aware of at the time of the agreement. Now it appears that the two sides have sorted out whatever issues existed, though, but this comes after other teams jumped in to make late runs on the former Florida Gator.

It was reported that the Jacksonville Jaguars, based near Tebow's hometown, and the St. Louis Rams were also pursuing Tebow. Just recently, Schefter also reported that Tebow would ultimately be given the option of where to be traded, but it's unclear if he's actually chosen New York given that he would appear to have an easier time landing the starting gig in Jacksonville.

Tim Tebow Trade: Jaguars Back In The Mix After Broncos-Jets Deal Hits Snag

Don't count out the Jacksonville Jaguars as the future landing spot for Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow. While a trade in principle between the Broncos and the New York Jets has hit a snag over repayment of a salary advance given to Tebow, this has allowed other teams to re-enter talks with Denver, notably the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter:

More craziness filed to ESPN: Jaguars are back in the mix, seeing if they now can pull off a trade with Denver for Tim Tebow.

The Jaguars would now need to be willing to pay back the portion of the money the Broncos are currently seeking from the Jets. If the Jaguars can pull this off, it remains to be seen what will happen in Jacksonville. Blaine Gabbert is the starter while newly signed Chad Henne will serve as backup. Will team become a slash player in his hometown?
