The Rockies' minor league outfielder hit his second home run in AFL play to set the pace in the Rafters win.
A trio of Colorado Rockies minor leaguers contributed to the Salt River Rafters 8-7 win over the Peoria Javelinas in Arizona Fall League action on Friday.
Salt River right fielder Kent Matthes had a huge day at the plate for the Rafters, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two doubles, a homerun and 4 RBI. Matthes crushed a two-run blast in the first inning -- his second of the AFL season -- to set the pace for Salt River. The 27-year-old is hitting .302 in 11 games with the Rafters.
Tyler Chatwood (1-1, 4.60) got the start on the mound and picked up the win, giving up two runs on four hits over four innings. The right-hander --who made 12 starts for the Rockies in 2012 -- struggled with his command a bit, walking four during his 69 pitch outing.
Isaiah Froneberger pitched the seventh inning for Salt River, giving up one run --a home run to Cincinnati Reds fleet-footed prospect Billy Hamilton -- and notched his second hold in AFL play.
The Rafters will be back in action on Saturday as they head to Mesa to take on the Solar Sox at 1:35 pm. CT.
