The Colorado Rockies are in the desert to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in the final series of the 2012 season. Can the Rockies avoid 100 loss?

The Colorado Rockies enter the final series of the 2012 regular season needing just one win to avoid 100 losses on the season. Currently standing at 62-97, the Rockies enter the series as losers of their last three games -- all at the arms and bats of the Los Angeles Dodgers. They will have three chances against the Arizona Diamondbacks to prevent that onerous accomplishment.

On Monday night, Drew Pomeranz (2-9, 5.01) will look to end the season on a strong note. On Wednesday, Pomeranz pitched five shutout innings against the Chicago Cubs to pick up his second win of the season in a 6-0 decision. It was the first time since Aug. 24 that he pitched five innings. The Diamondbacks got to him in the start before the Cubs, scoring four runs in three innings. He didn't do himself any favors by walking five batters.

In that game against the Diamondbacks, Monday's starter, Wade Miley (16-11, 3.32), was Pomeranz' counterpart. Miley, a strong contender for the National League Rookie of the Year Award, allowed five runs in six innings and picked up his 16th victory in the 15-5 decision. He didn't have a better time on Wednesday when he pitched against the San Francisco Giants on the road. He surrendered four runs on six hits and three walks in four innings. The Diamondbacks lost, 6-0.

First pitch for this game is set for 7:40 p.m. MT. ROOT Sports and 850 KOA will have the broadcast on TV and radio.
