Miami faces Brooklyn and Memphis plays San Antonio Saturday, while Dwight Howard faces his former Orlando teammates Sunday.

The Denver Nuggets head on the road this weekend for a Friday-night matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Nuggets fell to an even 8-8 on the season with a loss to Golden State Thursday night, the team's second straight loss. Los Angeles have also struggled recently. The Lakers have lost three of their last four, are 2-3 under new coach Mike D'Antoni, and scored just 77 points in a home loss to Indiana Tuesday. The defeat dropped the Lakers, a Western Conference favorite, to 7-8 on the year. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. MT. ESPN will broadcast Friday's game to a national audience.

Elsewhere this weekend, the East's top teams face off as Miami (11-3) travels to Brooklyn (10-4) for a Saturday-night showdown. The Heat and Nets get started at 5:30 p.m. MT. Western Conference leaders Memphis (11-2) and San Antonio (13-4) play for conference supremacy, starting at 6:30 p.m. MT Saturday night.

The Sixers (9-6) and surprising Charlotte Bobcats (7-7) highlight the Friday slate. The Suns face the Knicks in Madison Square Garden Sunday afternoon, tipping at 10:00 a.m. MT. Dwight Howard's first game against his former team gets prime billing Sunday night on NBA TV, as the Lakers host Orlando (5-9).
