The Nuggets handed the Spurs their first loss of the preseason.
Corey Brewer led the Denver Nuggets to a 97-91 preseason win over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night in San Antonio.
The 6'9 forward shot 8-of-13 from the field, scoring 24 points in just 22 minutes of play for the Nuggets, who moved to 2-0 so far in the preseason. With the game tied at halftime, Denver opened the second half on an 18-5 run to take control.
In just 26 minutes, the Spurs' Tim Duncan scored 21 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked two shots. Guard Gary Neal also chipped in 19 points in the loss. Danilo Gallinari scored 19 for Denver in 35 minutes, the most time on the floor for any Nugget on the night. Kosta Koufos pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds in 29 minutes.
The Nuggets will play their first home game of the preseason Monday, hosting the Golden State Warriors at 7 p.m. MT.
