2012 ECAC Lacrosse: Denver Pioneers Capture 4th And Final Spot

The 2012 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament has its four-team field set two weeks before the schools travel to the Denver Pioneers' Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium from May 2-4. Well, three teams will travel to the stadium, as the Denver Pioneers will be the No. 4 team in the field. The Pioneers went 3-3 in ECAC play, two wins better than Air Force and Hobart.

The Pioneers have drawn the No. 1 Loyola (Md.) Greyhounds, whom they lost to earlier in the season, 12-9. Fairfield and Ohio State, both 4-1 and both victorious over the Pioneers this season, have taken seeds No. 2 and No. 3 for the other matchup.

The Pioneers hosted the inaugural ECAC Tournament in 2011, which resulted in Denver winning 11-9 over Fairfield. Can the underdog Pioneers make it two in a row?

Here are the current standings:

School ECAC Overall
Loyola (Md.) 6-0 12-0

Denver 3-3 7-5
