The Denver Nuggets are among the teams pursuing free agent C JaVale McGee, and though the decision of whether or not the team retains the 24-year-old ultimately depends on McGee himself, NBA analyst Greg Anthony says the Nuggets would present the best opportunity for McGee to develop as a player:
"He's a freakish athlete with, really, infinite potential," said NBATV analyst Greg Anthony, a former NBA guard. "What he has, you can't coach — physical tools. But what he needs, you can coach. And it makes sense with Denver, because you have George Karl there and he's as good a coach as we have in our league in terms of mental development, how you approach the game."
McGee played his first three seasons with the Washington Wizards before being traded to the Nuggets midway through his fourth season.
