Nuggets Free Agency 2012: Javale McGee, Denver To Discuss Extension On Monday

Denver Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri will meet with the representatives of restricted free agent Javale McGee on Monday in Los Angeles, as Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports. At this point, McGee is capable of signing an offer sheet from any team, but the Nuggets have the right to match any offer after giving him a qualifying offer before the deadline.

Since being acquired from the Washington Wizards last season, it's seemed like the Nuggets would end up retaining McGee long-term after allowing Nene to head to D.C. By playing well against the Los Angeles Lakers in the Nuggets' first round defeat during the 2012 playoffs, McGee only helped his chances of landing a new deal.

Over 20 regular season games with Denver last season, McGee averaged 10.3 point per game, 5.8 rebounds per game and 1.6 blocks per game, turning up his efficiency while playing less minutes per night. He continued that success during the seven-game series against L.A., averaging 8.6 PPG, 9.6 RPG and 3.1 BPG while showing flashes of his upside as a defensive game-changer.
