As he continues to solidify his status as an obvious lottery pick, Weber State point guard Damian Lillard goes to the New Orleans Hornets with the No. 10 selection in the latest mock draft from Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated. Lillard would give the Hornets a younger alternative to Jarrett Jack, not to mention a long-term replacement for Chris Paul.
Though Lillard would appear to be the smart play, he hasn't worked out for New Orleans yet and I'm told he may not unless he's allowed to do an individual workout like he has in sessions with other teams. The Hornets would rather see him against competition, so it remains to be seen if this has an effect. And Portland, which was head over heels for Lillard after his workout there last Friday, would be more than happy to take him at No. 11 if he fell.
Some mock drafts have had Lillard going to Portland with the No. 6 pick, but there's a good chance that the Blazers opt to select a big man there instead with the hopes of having Lillard fall. Amick also notes that Lillard impressed the Kings in workouts, and the Raptors are considering the point guard.
