Denver Nuggets forward Wilson Chandler suffered through a strange season that started in China, turned into eight games for the Nuggets and ended with successful surgery on his left hip on May 1, but he is finally back on his feet. Chandler is able to stand and walk without crutches, as reported by Aaron Lopez of Nuggets.com, and that's the first big step in his recovery process. Running and jumping are still activities Chandler won't even attempt, but he is expected to be available when training camp begins next season.
As detailed by Lopez, Chandler still has to apply a cold-water compress to his hip six times a day in 30-minute intervals and he is dealing with major mobility restrictions until the muscles surrounding are properly rehabbed and built up.
"It's tough. It's repetitive. A lot of little things over and over, but it's something I have to do. I've got to make sure all the muscles are strong before I can start running and get back to jumping."

Wilson Chandler's 2011-2012 season was a forgettable one. The forward spent the first part of the lockout-shortened season in China, before returning to the Denver Nuggets. Chandler's season will end after only playing in eight games for Denver this season. He'll miss the rest of the season with hip surgery, but will be ready to return for next season.
I feel for #Nuggets F @wilsonchandler. He tried to make late-season impact but hip injury puts him out for season.

It appears the Denver Nuggets could benefit from the return of a key scoring option as they prepare to enter the stretch run of the season, as Benjamin Hochman of the Denver Post is reporting that Wilson Chandler should be available tonight after battling groin and hip injuries:
@nuggetsnews: Wilson Chandler should be available to play tonight for the
#Nuggets
Chandler hasn't been able to make the impact that many were hoping for when he returned from China. Chandler has appeared in only seven games and has been sidelined since March 30 with a groin/hip injury. Earlier this week, George Karl told the Denver Post that even when he returned, Chandler wouldn't be at 100%.
Karl said that "if and when" Chandler gets back, he will be in a similar situation to that of Al Harrington, who is playing with torn meniscus.
"His hip is not going to heal this year," Karl said of Chandler. "But can he play and be effective?"
The recent return of Danilo Gallinari lessens the blow, but Denver still has a void at forward off the bench. Corey Brewer, among others, will be expected to bring energy and production.
