Nuggets Vs. Timberwolves: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

After a 106-101 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night, the Denver Nuggets control their own destiny with regard to the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference playoff bracket. The only way Denver can fall out of the sixth slot is if they lose to the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Dallas Mavericks win against the Atlanta Hawks, so if the Nuggets take care of business they can avoid OKC in the first round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs.

The Nuggets have won three straight games and 10 of their last 14 thanks to inspired play from Ty Lawson and Kenneth Faried, while the Timberwolves have lost nine of their last 10 contests and will again be without Kevin Love (concussion), Ricky Rubio (knee) and Luke Ridnour (ankle).

Nuggets Vs. Thunder Final Score: Denver Prevails In 106-101 Victory Over Oklahoma City

The Denver Nuggets waited until their third and final game of the regular season against the Oklahoma City Thunder to come out on top, and that's what happened in Wednesday's 106-101 victory on the road. The Nuggets overcame a two-point deficit at the start of the final quarter to inch closer to the sixth spot in the Western Conference playoffs.

This was a solid all-around team effort with nine players scoring at least 10 points each. Ty Lawson led the way with 25 points as well as five rebounds, four assists and two assists. Kenneth Faried added 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, six on the offensive glass. Arron Afflalo and Danilo Gallinari added 15 and 14 points, respectively.

However, the Nuggets couldn't do it without its bench, which scored 35 points. Al Harrington, Corey Brewer and JaVale McGee each scored 10 points.

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook added 32 and 30 points, respectively, but only Serge Ibaka with 15 points joined them in double-digit scoring. Westbrook dished out the ball for nine assists, grabbed six rebounds, blocked four shots and stole the ball three times. The team had 13 blocks.

The Thunder had an advantage at the free throw line, hitting 86.7 percent of its shots, but that was on 13-of-15 shooting. The Nuggets went to the line 30 times and connected on 18 of them.

The Nuggets (37-28) close out the season on Thursday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

NBA Standings 2012: Nuggets Can Grab No. 6 Seed With Two Wins

With the Utah Jazz's 100-88 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night, the Western Conference playoff teams are set. The seedings however are still up for grabs, but the one team in the bottom tier that controls its own destiny is the Denver Nuggets.

SB Nation's Tom Ziller laid out the West playoff picture, and as it pertains to the Nuggets, it can be very simple: win out, and get the sixth seed and a match up with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Nuggets have two games left, one vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder and another against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and with neither team having anything to play for, Denver could certainly win out.

The Dallas Mavericks, who currently stand a spot behind Denver at No. 7, have the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Nuggets but only have a game remaining against the Atlanta Hawks. A Dallas loss would allow Denver to grab the No. 6 seed by splitting its final two games, but if the Mavs win, the pressure would be on Denver to win two games and avoid the Thunder in the first round.

The Jazz also have a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Nuggets, and a Utah win in their final regular season game against the Portland Trail Blazers combined with the Nuggets dropping their final two games would mean that Denver would slip all the way to No. 8. But with the Thunder likely resting some of its players and the floundering Timberwolves left for the Nuggets, that seems like the most unlikely scenario.

Al Harrington Injury: Harrington To Miss One Of Next Two Games

As Denver Nuggets forward Al Harrington battles a torn meniscus in his right knee, George Karl and the Denver staff is preparing to have Harrington miss one of the next two games as they look to get him some rest before the playoffs. Harrignton, who hasn't missed a game this year, is likely to sit out the Nuggets upcoming game against the Minnesota TImberwolves.

Harrington has had a fantastic year coming off the bench for the Nuggets, averaging 14.3 points and 6.1 rebounds a game, and has often found himself carrying the Denver offense for quarters— or games— at a time. With Denver currently slated to take on the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round, Harrington's size will be very much in need.

NBA Standings 2012: Nuggets Look To Hold Onto No. 6 Seed In West

With just three games remaining on their regular season schedule, the Denver Nuggets have already clinched a spot in the postseason, but it's still unclear who they'll be playing at this point. At the moment, the Nuggets are 35-28 on the season, tied for the sixth-best record in the Western Conference with the Dallas Mavericks.

But the Mavericks only have one game left this season with a current record of 36-29, so the Nuggets have the ball in their court if they want to take hold of the sixth seed going into the postseason.

By landing the sixth seed, Denver would play either the Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers in the first round, depending on which of those teams wins the Pacific Division.

Right now, it's almost a lock that Denver will settle into the No. 6 or No. 7 seed. They could potentially drop to the No. 8 seed if they lose their remaining games and the Utah Jazz win out, but at this point it seems likely that the Nuggets will be able to avoid the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.

If Denver lands the No. 7 seed, it'll play the San Antonio Spurs to open the postseason.
