Denver Nuggets restricted free agent Wilson Chandler has deals on the table in China and in Italy. Where will he wind up?
The Denver Nuggets' players are jumping on the overseas bandwagon since the NBA lockout has a long struggle ahead. Ty Lawson will leave in late August to play for a Lithuanian club team, and now restricted free agent Wilson Chandler is in negotiations to join a Chinese club team, according to HoopsWorld.com. His agent, Chris Luchey, has reportedly gained a $1.7 million contract offer from an unnamed Chinese team for the upcoming season.
However, an opt-out clause in his contract is still being discussed. Lawson can leave his Lithuanian team the moment the NBA lockout ends. NBA players are being advised to gain an opt-out clause in any deals they sign. If Chandler is unable to get one from this Chinese team, his agent is also negotiating with an Italian team, according to the original report.
Chandler may find himself to be the odd man out when he comes back for NBA free agency. With Arron Afflalo, Danilo Gallinari and rookie Jordan Hamilton able to play the wing, Chandler could be allowed to leave through restricted free agency.
