NBA Free Agency 2011: Nick Young A Denver Nuggets Target, According To Report

The Denver Nuggets lost three players from its roster even before the NBA lockout negotiations ended the labor impasse. With Wilson Chandler, J.R. Smith and Kenyon Martin all playing in China and not allowed to return until the CBA season ends in March (or April if any of their teams make the playoffs), the Nuggets were down three players whom they could re-sign.

Now it appears that the Nuggets are one of several teams that are pursuing Washington Wizards forward Nick Young, according to Michael Lee of the Washington Post. Young is a restricted free agent, which gives the Wizards the ability to match any contract offer that he receives.

Young was drafted by the Wizards in 2007 out of Southern Cal. During the 2010-11 season, Young finally saw extensive action as in the starting lineup with 40 starts. He averaged 17.4 points in 64 total games. His Player Efficiency Rating of 14.5 was a career best, but that puts him under an average PER by 0.5

Young would likely be a hard target for the Nuggets if restricted free agent Arron Afflalo goes elsewhere and the Nuggets don't want to match the offer. Afflalo and Young are both wing players.
