NBA Free Agency 2011: Gary Forbes Officially On The Raptors After Nuggets Decline To Match Offer

Stay connected for news and updates

On Wednesday, former restricted free agent forward Gary Forbes officially joined the Toronto Raptors after the Denver Nuggets declined to match the offer sheet presented by Toronto on Friday. Under the terms of the NBA Collective Bargaining agreement, the Nuggets had three days to match the offer sheet from the time it was presented on Sunday, but the team declined to do so and now Forbes joins the Raptors. Although the terms of the deal were not disclosed, it is believed the offer sheet was a two-year contract with team option for a third year.

Forbes played his college ball at the University of Massachusetts, and averaged 5.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per game during his rookie season with the Nuggets in 2010-2011. The native of Panama had his shining moment in his rookie year when he scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds against the New York Knicks on Nov. 16th.
