The Denver Nuggets were unable to win their fourth straight road victory, dropping a game to the Philadelphia 76ers, 110-99. It was a tough night for Carmelo Anthony, who shot 3-of-12 from the field. He went 2-of-5 from beyond the arc and made all four free throws to finish with 12 points. Chauncey Billups led the team with 27 points, five assists and three rebounds. J.R. Smith contributed 23 points, nine rebounds and three steals from off the bench.
For the Sixers, Andre Iguodala, one of the players mentioned in early Carmelo Anthony trade rumors, scored 24 points, dished the ball out seven times and stole seven balls. Coming off the bench, Thaddeus Young scored 21 points and pulled down seven boards.
The Nuggets (28-19, 8-14 away) head immediately to New Jersey on Jan. 31 to close out the month. They will face the Nets, who pulled out of a proposed Carmelo Anthony mega-deal when Russian owner Mikhail Prokhorov said the deal-making had cost the Nets too much and was not worth pursuing any longer. The Nets are 14-34 this season, already an improvement on last season's 12-70 record.

The Denver Nuggets face the Philadelphia 76ers this afternoon during their current Eastern time zone road swing. Having won the first three of five games, Denver looks to improve its 8-13 road record against a sub-.500 Sixer squad.
In victories over the Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver has averaged a shade over 115 points per game while being led by Carmelo Anthony’s 24.7 and Arron Afflalo’s 19.3 averages.
Combining the three road wins with the last game Denver won at home, the Nuggets currently are riding a four game win streak, which is tied for Denver’s second longest win streak this season. A victory today, and a loss by the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Miami Heat, will pull the Nuggets within one game of the top of the Northwest Division in the Western Conference.
Elton Brand leads the Sixers in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots.
Philly currently holds a two game win streak over the Nuggets, but in neither of those losses did Melo play.
