To honor Jessica, we're hitting the ice, just as she'd want us to.
A memorial for Jessica Redfield is planned for the one place we saw her at her happiest: the ice rink. On Saturday, July 28, 2012, come down to The Edge Ice Arena in Littleton, CO, to remember Jessi, swap stories, and celebrate her life.
If you play hockey -- no matter what level -- bring your gear. There is a stick and puck session from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and a drop-in game from 8:00 to 10:30 p.m. If you don't play, please still come. The Penalty Box bar is there for everyone to hang out together.
The hockey sessions are $10 each, and we're asking that you bring an extra $10 to support the Ghawi family and friends. If you cannot make it, but would like to donate money, you can visit a special site that has been set up for raising the funds. There will be a silent auction of a variety of sports memorabilia, Avalanche game tickets, and more. Both the Avalanche and Cutthroats will be donating items for the auction, as well. I suspect the family will want the money donated to a charity; alternatively, it might go to help Jessi's boyfriend, Jay Meloff, as he tries out for the Cutthroats next month.
For full information and to indicate if you plan on skating, please go to the Facebook event page. Many, many thanks to Scott Pantall for getting this set up for everyone.
