The Denver Broncos' 2012-13 NFL season begins on Sunday when they face the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Broncos have released their Week 1 depth chart. It looks as expected, for the most part, considering how the preseason went -- Peyton Manning is the starting quarterback, Demaryius Thomas is the No. 1 receiver, Ryan Clady is the starting left tackle, and so on.
However, the hot preseason contest for the backup running-back spot behind Willis McGahee was won by Knowshon Moreno, which is somewhat surprising, considering the former first-round pick is coming back from injury. Lance Ball and Ronnie Hillman will reportedly slot in behind Moreno, according to Mile High Report:
Looks like Knowshon has impressed the coaches enough to be listed as the number two back ahead of Ball and the rookie Hillman. I wouldnt be too worried about Hillman being listed as the [fourth] stringer. He did miss a decent portion of camp and two preseason games. I think we could see all 4 active on game day, and the hot hand is the #2 back.
Denver will kick off against Pittsburgh at 6:20 p.m. MT.
