Stopping Darren McFadden will be a big key to a Broncos win on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, according to John Elway.
The first AFC West game of the season for the Denver Broncos will come against their biggest rival, the Oakland Raiders, on Sunday. They'll be meeting an Oakland team that is suddenly on the upswing as well. After two straight bad weeks to start the season, the Raiders beat up on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3.
Part of the resurgence in Week 3 was the play of Darren McFadden, who ran for 113 yards and a touchdown after putting together only about 50 yards combined in his first two games. A hot McFadden could be bad news for the Broncos, who are seeking their second win of the year after two bad losses.
John Elway called the Week 4 game "huge" on the Elway Access podcast and noted that stopping the run will be key:
"Darren McFadden, no question, is back. He had a 64-yarder last week and is a big-play back. We did a good job against Houston stopping the run later in the game. We’re going to have our hands full with Darren McFadden because he’s one of the top running backs in the league."
Denver will face off against McFadden and the Raiders on Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
