Peyton Manning Reacts To Interceptions: 'Should Have Thrown The Balls Away'

Stay connected for news and updates

After his first eight throws on Monday Night Football against the Falcons, Peyton Manning had already thrown three interceptions. The interceptions, along with a fourth first-quarter turnover after a Knowshon Moreno fumble, gave the Falcons enough offensive opportunities to earn a 20-0 lead early in the first half.

While Manning completed 20 of his next 29 passes, including a touchdown and no interceptions, the damage had been done and a late comeback attempt fell short. Atlanta won, 27-21. Following the game, Manning told reporters that he shouldn't have tried to make the passes that resulted in interceptions.

"Everybody was covered. I should have thrown the balls away," Manning told the Denver Post. "There are some things I have to correct."

Manning finished the game with a 58.5 passer rating, the lowest mark for him since a game against the Browns on Nov. 30, 2008.
