Virgil Green's Suspension Remains At 4 Games

UPDATE: The Denver Post's report of Virgil Green's suspension reduced to three games was erroneous. It is still four games.

Denver Broncos second-year tight end Virgil Green has had his suspension reduced from four games to three games nearly five months after it had been handed out, reports the Denver Post. Green's suspension was handed down along with the six-game suspensions for defensive tackle Ryan McBean and linebacker D.J. Williams. McBean and Williams -- only the latter is still with the team -- were suspended under the substance abuse policy.

Green came out shortly after the suspension news hit to admit to having taken ADHD medication that the NFL had not given the okay for him to use. He subsequently received that permission, but the damage was already done.

Joel Dreessen and Jacob Tamme are projected to be the top two tight ends while Green is competing with Julius Thomas, also in his second year, and Cornelius Ingram for a spot on the roster. In 2011, Green suited up for 15 games, but he had just three receptions for 24 yards.
