The Denver Broncos don't exactly have their depth chart figured out at either safety position right now, but injuries are now complicating the situation even further than before. Safety Quinton Carter, who started 10 games for the Broncos last season, underwent arthroscopic knee surgery earlier in the week and now he is expected to miss at least two weeks of action (possibly including the first two preseason games).
Carter initially suffered a hamstring on the second day of camp while trying to intercept a deep pass intended for wide receiver Eric Decker, but after sitting out for a few practices he had his knee scoped and is now on the shelf for a few weeks. In the meantime, Rahim Moore will get more time with the first unit. The Broncos will also work out free agent safety Jim Leonhard on Saturday, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
