Denver Broncos Training Camp Update: Secondary A Tough Place For Roster Spot

The Denver Broncos find themselves with a crowded secondary, which means Jim Leonhard and rookie Omar Bolden could soon find themselves out of a job, according to the Denver Post.

In their preseason opener against the Chicago Bears, the Broncos started Mike Adams, Rahim Moore, newcomer from the Saints Tracey Porter and stalwart Champ Bailey. The team also has veteran Drayton Florence, Chris Harris -- a tough player coaches like -- and expect safety Quinton Carter back by the beginning of the season. That's seven players right there.

The Broncos opened 2011 with nine defensive backs on the 53-man roster, so there could be room in the secondary, but not much. Leonard and Bolden will have to battle for a spot with each other as well Syd'Quan Thompson, David Bruton and Rafael Bush. Thompson appears to be the frontrunner for a kick-returning job, which makes it even tighter.

Among the many other things the team is looking at this preseason, the Broncos will likely use this Saturday's game against the Seattle Seahawks to determine how to shed their crowded defensive backfield.
