Broncos OT Orlando Franklin Could Move To Guard

The Denver Broncos absolutely need to make sure they have their best quintet of blockers on the field to protect Peyton Manning for duration of the 2012 NFL season, so it's no surprise that there is some early chatter about shuffling the offensive line during training camp. One candidate to move along the line is right tackle Orlando Franklin. The 24-year-old started 16 games at tackle for the Broncos in 2011, but he played come guard in college and could shift inside if Ryan Harris shows some potential to take over at RT.

Jeff Legwold of The Denver Post said the team has already considered the idea of moving Franklin to guard:

The Broncos have kicked around the idea of moving Franklin to guard because he's a powerful force in the running game and has struggled in pass protection. Moving him inside would take advantage of what he does best and limit his exposure to one-on-one pass protection situations against more athletic defensive ends.

...To move Franklin to guard, the Broncos would have to find a replacement at right tackle. Harris has plenty of experience there, having made 34 starts for the Broncos. They like his athleticism, but he has had back problems and foot/leg injuries.
