Elvis Dumervil's Preliminary Court Date For Aggravated Assault Charges Set For Aug. 16

Denver Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil is set for a preliminary court hearing in Miami on Aug. 16, when he will appear before a judge in the Miami-Dade County Court system, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post. Dumervil was arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting a driver with a firearm.

There are various reports available that conflict with one another. Dumervil was supposedly displaying a gun in what is being termed a road rage incident while other ones say he wasn't the owner of the gun or the car involved in the incident.

Broncos training camp begins on Thursday, July 26, and Dumervil will be in camp with the rest of his teammates. In 2011, Dumervil recorded 9.5 sacks after missing the entire 2010 season with a torn pectoral muscle. He and second0year linebacker Von Miller will look for another season of solid sack-artistry.

Elvis Dumervil Update: Dumervil Displayed Gun In Road Rage Incident, According To Police Report

Denver Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil was arrested in Miami this past Saturday night and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, and now we know the full details of the story. According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, Dumervil and a friend exited his Land Rover while stuck in traffic and lifted their shirts to flash guns at the occupants of a car that had previously cut them off. The incident report states that an employee of a nearby Victoria's Secret witnessed the incident and called police.

When police arrived on the scene, Dumervil and his friend were still stuck in traffic. Police ordered them out of the car at gunpoint, at which point Dumervil was asked if there was a gun in the vehicle. According to police, Dumervil said that there was not, but a search revealed there to be a gun in the vehicle's glove compartment.

Per the witness, the exiting of the vehicle by Dumervil and his friend was preceded by verbal name-calling and threats from both sides. The witness also reported that the occupants of the other car threw an object that struck Dumervil's Land Rover.

The assault with a deadly weapon charge is a third-degree felony, and Dumervil was released after posting a $7,500 bail.
