Broncos Offseason 2012: Rookie DE Derek Wolfe May Also Try DT

The Denver Broncos selected Derek Wolfe with the No. 36 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, and now they are excited about the flexibility he can bring on the defensive line. The 295-pound lineman doesn't quite the fit the prototypical physical profile for a defensive end or a defensive tackle, but his wide array of skills has defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio thinking it will be a good problem for the Broncos. In fact, Del Rio told Mike Klis of the Denver Post that Wolfe may split time at base DE and a nickel-package DT:

"He's a worker. He's got rush ability. He's not a big tackle right now. So right now his body type is probably more of a base end that can slide inside (in the nickel). We'll play him at both spots. That's extra value. That's like a guy who can play center and guard. That's OK. You need guys who can do multiple things."
