2012 NFL Mock Draft: Don Banks Has Broncos Taking DT Jerel Worthy In First Round

Just one day away from the beginning of the 2012 NFL Draft, Sports Illustrated's Don Banks has the Denver Broncos selecting Michigan State defensive tackle Jerel Worthy with their first-round pick. Defense has long been expected to be the route for Denver in the first round of this year's draft, with Banks explaining his projection of the Broncos' No. 25 pick:

Nothing fancy about this pick. The Broncos need a wide-load type in the middle of their defensive front, and this is the year to get one in a first round that's ridiculously deep at defensive tackle. Worthy isn't as flashy as some of the other first-round DTs, but he's got a solid body of game tape tucked under his mostly obscured belt.

Defensive tackle has generally been the spot that most mock drafts have Denver addressing with its first pick. The other player at that position frequently tied to the Broncos is LSU's Michael Brockers, but Banks has the Dallas Cowboys taking him with the No. 14 pick.
