NFL Draft 2012: Broncos Targeting WR Derek Carrier From Beloit College

Stay connected for news and updates

The Denver Broncos appear to be among a number of NFL teams interested in Beloit College's standout WR Derek Carrier. According to ESPN, the Broncos and the Oakland Raiders are looking into drafting the little-known Wisconsin native. Earlier reports have indicated that both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks have also been in contact with Carrier.

Carrier finished his career at Beloit with over 3,000 yards receiving to go with 29 touchdowns. ESPN reports he also managed to runs a 4.49 40-yard dash with an impressive 40-inch vertical and 6.69 three-cone drill time.

The 6'3" wideout would certainly not be the first small-school player to reach the NFL. WR Jerry Rice was selected in the first round of the 1985 NFL Draft after playing his college years at Mississippi Valley State, a Division I-AA school.
