Cox joined the Broncos out of Oklahoma St. and started 9 games in 2010, but was released before the 2011 season after sexual assault charges surfaced in late 2010. Earlier in March, Cox was found not guilty of the charges leveled against him.
The 49ers acted quickly now that Cox does not have a two-year prison sentence hanging over his head. Cox collected 1 interception and 54 tackles* to go with 2 forced fumbles in his 15 career NFL games.
*Tackles are not an official NFL stat.
