2012 NFL Mock Drafts Could Face Significant Changes If Rams Trade No. 2 Pick

The St. Louis Rams hold the No. 2 overall selection in the upcoming 2012 NFL Draft. While the team doesn't want to draft another quarterback -- they have Sam Bradford, the 2010 No. 1 overall pick -- the choice will almost certainly be traded, likely for a king's ransom. That's why many mock drafts are already projecting trades for the pick. Sports Illustrated's Peter King reports that the team has already had preliminary conversations about trading the choice.

King writes:

St. Louis is ready to deal its pick, and one NFL source said on Saturday night that the team has already had several feelers—including one from a team "you would never expect."

He doesn't go on to speculate which team that may be, but he does offer the Cleveland Browns, the Washington Redskins and the Miami Dolphins as the most likely teams that do want to trade up. Potentially, the Rams may want to get at least three first-round picks in compensation for the pick.

Maybe it's wishful thinking or just wild, rampant speculation, but could the Broncos be that mysterious team that explored the possibility. It's unlikely given the team's (quasi-)commitment to Tim Tebow and the lack of extra draft picks with which to make a move up to draft Robert Griffin III. Still, it's about as wild as the team pursuing Peyton Manning should the Indianapolis Colts release him.

But if anyone does want Griffin on the Broncos, fire up Madden 12, import an NCAA draft class into franchise mode and get him that way. Or wait until Madden 13 comes out and trade for him in that version come July.
