Tim Tebow Trying To Become More Efficient While Working With UCLA OC Noel Mazzone

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow has heard plenty about the flawed mechanics of his throwing motion since he entered the NFL, and the QB has returned to seek the help of UCLA offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone during the offseason. Tebow and Mazzone have been working out together extensively in Los Angeles for the past week, and previously put in work prior to the 2010 NFL draft and last offseason, and now Mazzone is hoping to continue to help the young playmaker improve his throwing motion, footwork, release and accuracy.

The focus for Mazzone at this point is improving the efficiency of Tebow's mechanics, as he told Peter Yoon of ESPNLosAngeles.com:

"He just came out here to throw and work on a few things and see if we can just become a little more efficient in what he's doing. It's kind of like a golfer who hit that bad drive. Every other guy in the foursome can tell you what you did wrong and all three opinions are different. We're just going out and kind of going back to the basics and working on some fundamentals to try and become a little more efficient."

"Obviously I wouldn't do anything that would go against what their beliefs are," Mazzone said. "I know after coaching quarterbacks for a long time, they're like girlfriends. You don't like other guys messing with them."

Tebow posted the lowest completion percentage (46.5 percent) of any quarterback with at least 14 attempts per games played in 2011, so there is certainly work to be done. His yards per attempt also ranked in the bottom quartile of qualifying QBs, so it's not as if he took big risks down the field either. Mazzone has a great reputation as a teacher and is also scheduled to work with San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers and Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder in the coming weeks.
