Tim Tebow Will Face Starting QB Competition In Camp, Says John Elway

The latest news out of the Denver Broncos front office may have fans of QB Tim Tebow upset once again at the executive VP of football operations, John Elway.

Elway's latest quote, courtesy of Jeff Legwold of The Denver Post, puts a much different spin on his earlier remarks about Tebow's role on the 2012 Broncos roster. Now, it sounds like Tebow's 2012 accomplishments have merely earned the sophomore quarterback an entry in next year's quarterback competition:

"Anybody who comes in at any position is going to think they have a chance to compete," Elway said. "Any free agent or anybody that comes in here when we start training camp is going to be competing for jobs.

"Obviously with Tim's reputation, if the guy is afraid to come in and compete for that job, then maybe he's not the right guy."

Elway had previously said Tebow had "earned the right" to be the starter heading into next season's training camp, but he never said Tebow would be the starter heading into next season -- and apparently did not say so deliberately.

Tebow finished the season with a 7-4 record, helping the Broncos reach the divisional round of the 2012 NFL Playoffs. However, he finished the season with a 72.9 passer rating to go with a frightening 10.9% sack rate.
