Jackie Battle Injury: KC Chiefs Place RB On IR, Sign Shaun Draughn

Stay connected for news and updates

The Kansas City Chiefs had earlier declared running back Jackie Battle out for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos, but on Saturday night the team officially ended his season by placing him on injured reserve. Battle had injured his foot against the Oakland Raiders last week and was unable to participate in practice. This move to the IR list allows the Chiefs to add an extra running back to the squad.

Shaun Draughn was signed from the team's practice squad. This will be Draughn's first NFL action, having been an undrafted free agent in 2011. He had signed with the Washington Redskins in August.

Draughn will serve as depth behind Thomas Jones and Dexter McCluster, both of who will share the rushing load in Battle's absence. Battle emerged with the loss of Jamaal Charles for the season. He picked up 597 rushing yards before the injury.
