Week 3 NFL Power Rankings: Denver Broncos Should Rise Slightly, Chiefs Could Plummet

The Denver Broncos were the only AFC West team to win on Week 2, which should help them move up in the latest power rankings.

When NFL Power Rankings come rolling out on Tuesday, the Denver Broncos are likely to move up in them following their victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, 24-22. It probably won't be a huge jump, but they should move ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs, the only 0-2 team in the AFC West.

There should be several changes throughout many power rankings. The Baltimore Ravens looked like a dominant team after their crushing 35-7 Week 1 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, but then those two teams went in opposite directions over the weekend. The Steelers defeated the Seahawks, 24-0, which isn't a marquee win, but it was a nice bounce back. The Ravens lost to the Titans, 26-13, a team that was thought to be just waiting for Jake Locker to be ready at quarterback. Instead, Matt Hasselbeck, thought to be on his last legs, threw for 358 yards.

Let's take a look at where the AFC West teams might wind up in the various power rankings.

Broncos: At 1-1, the Broncos are in a three-ay tie with the Chargers and the Raiders. But they were the only AFC West team to win on Week 2. SB Nation's power rankings had them dead last at No. 32 and ESPN had them at No. 28. They could move into the 23-25 range as teams such as the Vikings, the Colts and the Dolphins fell to 0-2.

Chargers: San Diego did lose, but it was a loss to the New England Patriots. They'll fall outside of the top 10.

Raiders: After a road defeat of the Broncos, the Raiders went on the road and lost a seesaw battle to the Buffalo Bills, 38-35. They will likely find themselves in the early 20s, possibly right ahead of the Broncos.

Chiefs: The Chiefs are in for a long season. They lost Eric Berry to a torn ACL last week and then saw Jamaal Charles tear his ACL in Sunday's loss to the Bills. They have been outscored this season, 89-10. A fall to No. 32 is not out of the question.
